Hope Reins Equine Assisted Therapy Programs

This page is for Hope Reins Equine Assisted Therapy Programs. Hope Reins is a registered Charitable organization that we have founded and currently host here at the farm to provide better and more diverse programming to those in need within our community. Here is a basic outline of the 5W's of Hope Reins.

WHAT IS HOPE REINS?
It is the name we have given to all our programs where horsemanship is a secondary goal if it is a
goal at all. The primary focus is to meet personal goals determined by the client, the client’s family, and sometimes the mental health professional that is working with the client.

HOW DOES HOPE REINS ACHIEVE THESE GOALS?
Goals are achieved by providing individualized programs that are designed based on the therapeutic needs and the client’s ability. The activities may or may not involve back riding, and can be individual, in a group, or involve the whole family.

WHY ARE THE HOPE REINS PROGRAMS SO VALUABLE?
The value of the programs lies for the most part, with the use of horses. Horses are excellent partners in undertaking the enormous task of broad based teaching and personal healing, having to be and provide the mirror to what is going on inside.

WHEN DO THE HOPE REINS PROGRAMS TAKE PLACE?
The programs take can take place as an ongoing weekly or biweekly basis, or as a ten or twelve week program, again, based on individual or group needs, or as determined by funding sources. We are available for programming six days per week.

WHO PARTICIPATES IN THE HOPE REINS PROGRAMS?
Hope Reins has the ability to provide program to children and adults on the Autism Spectrum, with physical and developmental delays, and those facing addictions, grief/loss/divorce issues, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, youth at risk or facing incarceration, constructive respite opportunities and much more.

WHERE ARE THESE SESSIONS OFFERED?
Hope Reins offers the sessions at two host facilities; Vanderbrook Farm in Killaloe, and at a private facility in Pembroke.

WHAT HAS HOPE REINS ACCOMPLISHED SO FAR?

* Hope Reins has provided programming to approximately four dozen or more children and adults since inception in 2011. Many of our clients are on the Autism Spectrum, have developmental delays, and even a child with spina bifida.

*Hope Reins also partnered up with the Phoenix Centre for Children and Families in a three month pilot project to provide Equine Assisted Therapy to twelve of it’s clients. The therapy sessions with their assigned therapists were taken out of the office and into the arena. All of the therapists noted progression, sometimes profoundly, with their clients.

WHAT IS PLANNED FOR 2013?

*Individual programming is already underway at Vanderbrook Farm and we look forward to beginning more programming in the coming weeks both here at the farm and in Pembroke.
